The Atlanta FaZe needed their championship record to win a convincing comeback victory over the New York Subliners tonight, finishing the reverse sweep and advancing to the 2022 Call of Duty League Championship.
New York held off a late effort from FaZe on the series' first map, Gavutu Hardpoint, to win by a mere six points. Unfortunately for the defending champions, HyDra found a three-piece on Arcitys, Simp, and aBeZy to clear FaZe out of the hill.
New York shook off the momentum from their stunning victory on a second straight map, defeating the Tuscan Search and Destroy by a count of 6-4 thanks to a 10-5 stat line from the teams legend SMG player, HyDra. But that would be the end of New York's good news.
As FaZe led the way with 1.28, 1.47, and 1.62 K/Ds to put FaZe on the board in the third round of the series, Tuscan Control, came to an abrupt halt.
Atlanta held off a stronghold late in the map, leading the series to a fifth map for the fourth time in a row.
FaZe had no intentions of going to a round 11 for a third consecutive series, unlike OpTic Texas and the Los Angeles Thieves before them. After putting their foot on the gas, they never looked back. There was a moment when New York had a chance to regain their lead in the fourth round.

As Simp and Arcitys each found a New York player, they regrouped in a two-vs-one tie for Atlanta. Although New York cut the lead to 5-2, FaZe closed out the map to win the reverse sweep.
FaZe advances to the second round of the winners bracket in CoD Champs 2022, where they will face the Seattle Surge tomorrow at 5pm CT. After Seattle defeats FaZe in the third Major, the sport will be resurrected.
Tomorrow's Cinderella run in New York City will see the Subliners drop to the elimination bracket. The London Royal Ravens will face the Call of Duty team at 2pm CT in a win-or-go-home scenario.
