The excitement among Strictly Come Dancing followers is fast building as yet another well-known figure has been confirmed to be in the official line-up for 2022.
Richie Anderson will soon take to the dance floor in a bid to win the iconic glitterball trophy in the celebrity dance competition.
Fans may recognize the star from BBC Radio 2, where he can often be heard reading the travel news on Zoe Ball's breakfast program and Ken Bruce's mid-morning program.
As a former Sunday League footballer who played for Coombs Wood F.C., he's also well-known for his sporting achievements.
Anderson said in response to the news that "This is a dream come true!" I cannot wait to get in those sparkles and sequins and shimmy across the most famous dance floor in the world!
"Strictly Come Dancing is the ultimate feel-good show, as soon as I hear that iconic theme tune it's pure escapism. I'll have to cancel my famous Strictly launch night kitchen party that I throw every year, I'm sure my friends and family will understand."
In the next series of Strictly Come Dancing, the TV and radio presenter confirmed that he'll be competing in a same-sex partnership.
"It's also a great honor to be a part of an all-male dance team, and it's so important to include ourselves on such a big program," Anderson said.
Will Mellor, a former Hollyoaks and Coronation Street star, was the first celebrity contestant to be announced for the new series, followed by Kym Marsh, a fellow soap star.
Each actor will be partnered-up with one of the Strictly Come Dancing professionals, but the pairings will not be revealed until the program airs.
Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton du Beke will take part in the star-studded dance competition this autumn.
As the show enters its twentieth series in 2022, Strictly Come Dancing will have an impressive moment.
On BBC One, Strictly Come Dancing is available.
