John Boyega is taking a break from his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least for the time being.

The 30-year-old alphabetical person explained why he is opposed to continuing the mega-franchise in his cover story for Mens Health.

John does not currently believe Marvel is a big deal.

He stated that at this moment, this does not make sense to him. I wish to assume difficult responsibilities. In light of the fact that I am well aware that it will be difficult to beat Iron Man in this environment, I wish to direct my efforts toward independent films that are current and original.

The Woman King, which will be released on September 16, and They Cloned Tyrone, which does not yet have a release date, are the three films that John, who most recently played Finn in the most recent Star Wars films, will appear in this year.

John Boyega has made no secret of the fact that he is dissatisfied with the Star Wars prequel trilogy's format and the portrayal of his character, Finn, in the films. In the year 2020, he gave an interview to the British edition of GQ in which he made the following recommendation:

I would advise Disney not to introduce a Black character, position them as being significantly more important in the series than they are, and then have them shuffled off the shelf. This is not good. Ill say it out loud.

When reports surfaced earlier this year on a website called GiantFreakinRobot that Boyega had secretly shot a cameo for a forthcoming film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (another big brand owned by Disney), it appeared as though some pieces were not quite fitting together.

In the most recent cover story for the magazine, Boyega partially refuted rumors that he would join the MCU. That's not what I'm seeing right now, he said. I want to take a sophisticated approach. Since I am aware of how difficult it will be to defeat Iron Man in that world, I want to contribute my talents to independent films with unique, innovative concepts.

So, no complete, outright rejection. But, for the time being, a Noat.

During a 2021 appearance on Fresh Air With Terry Gross, Boyegas acknowledged Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), the character who became the new Captain America in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
