Shea Coulee, a Drag Race sensation, has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Deadline, Coulee will play in an undisclosed role in the upcoming Ironheart series on Disney Plus. She is well-known as one of the stars of the Emmy-winning reality competition series RuPauls Drag Race's fifth season. All-Stars Season 7's special all-winners edition

Coulee has been featured on the covers of many internationally recognized publications, including Out, Entertainment Weekly, Gay Times, and the fashion magazine Metal. In 2021, she launched a podcast series titled Wanna Be on Top, which explored the world of America's Next Top Model. It ranked No. 1 on Apple Podcasts.

Coulee's role is unknown at the time, and it is unclear whether she will reprise her role as herself, or play an original character in Marvel Comics. Shade is a drag queen superhero (and a mutant) who also sometimes goes by the name Darkveil, according to some fans. Grace gave her the inspiration for Shade, along with other Drag Race celebrities, Monet X Change and The Vixen.

Dominique Thorne will play Riri Williams, a genius inventor and inventor of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man, in the Ironheart series, although he is believed to be playing Ezekiel Stane, the son of Iron Man villain Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges).

Shade's inclusion in the MCU would fit with the current direction that the MCU is heading. The fact that Shade is a mutant and has been a member of the X-Men suggests that the MCU will continue to add more characters from the same universe to the fold.

Shade is one of several X-Men characters who is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, making her possible inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe a significant step forward for LGBTQ+ representation.

Ironheart will be released on Disney Plus sometime in the Fall of 2023.
