Rockstar is one of the most popular gaming companies thanks to genre-defining franchises such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead. However, its history is also littered with established franchises that were once popular but have since died, such as Midnight Club and Bully. Though Bully received critical praise upon its release, it has yet to receive much attention from Rockstar, making prospects for a new project related to the IP unfavorable.
Hogwarts Legacy is an ideal school simulation game for gamers who are unfamiliar with Bully's language. It's a highly immersive game that seems to allow players to experience different social groups while studying.
The Misunderstood Story of Bully
When Rockstar announced that it would release Bully, there was a lot of reaction and controversy. To some extent, this was to be expected, since the public was expecting the same crass humor and gratuitous violence to be included in a playground setting. Bully also managed to gain widespread respect due to its authentic portrayal of school life, as well as the usual emotional highs and lows that accompany it.
For over a decade, bully fans have been clamoring for a sequel, but Rockstar has moved on to other lucrative projects. There is speculation that Bully might get a remake, but the likelihood of Rockstar doing this seems slim. Hogwarts Legacy may help.
Where Bully Left Off Could Be Rekindled by Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is the most ambitious Harry Potter game to date, with a wizard or witch in his fifth year at the famed magical school. Players will be able to interact with fellow players and have companions to help them out along the way.
Conflict between the different cliques will likely arise in Bully, while in Hogwarts Legacy, there will likely be some friendly fighting between the four houses as they strive for the House Cup. Historically, Slytherin and Gryffindor have been sworn enemies, and it will be interesting to see how the game will handle conflict between students in these houses. Hogwarts Legacy may also, like Bully, add a magical twist.
As a unique title, Hogwarts Legacy had a certain style from Rockstar Games that other studios have yet to replicate. However, for those looking for a school simulator, Hogwarts Legacy might satisfy the need.
Hogwarts Legacy is expected to be released in 2022 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One.
