IFC shared today a sneak peek at the upcoming season of Documentary Now!, which will be presented as usual by Helen Mirren (The Queen) and what we can expect from the new slate of satirical episodes. This is, of course, a joke with the fact that many of the best-known documentaries are co-creators.

IFC announced the specific Fall release date for the upcoming season, which will be October 19th, as well as the kinds of stories that will be revealed in the first three episodes. The episode is set in the early 1980s and centers around a visionary filmmaker who works in the remote, brutal conditions of the Russian Ular mountains.

The second episode is titled Trouver Frisson, paying homage to Agnes Varda (Faces, Places). The episode chronicles celebrated French filmmaker Ida Leos (Liliane Rovere) and her quest for why she no longer experiences frisson the goosebumps that have always guided her.

Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok) and Harriet Walter (Succession) play hairdressers doing their annual stylebook for a small town.

How They Threw Rocks will be a sequel to the 1996 Academy Award-winning film When We Were Kings, which chronicled George Foreman and then-underdog Muhammad Ali in the role of a filmmaker who develops a deep, emotional, and financially abusive connection with a monkey who may have ulterior motives. The episode satirizes Academy Award winner My Octopus Teacher, about a man who forms a surprising deep bond with an octopus.

Documentary Now! was created by Armisen, Hader, Seth Meyers, and Rhys Thomas. It premiered in 2015 to great acclaim, and since then it has received numerous nominations across many categories, including six Emmy nominations.

Season 4 of Documentary Now! will be released on October 19th at IFC. You may see the sneak peek here:
