In Chicago's Broadway musical, an American Horror Story star will make history ...

Angelica Ross, star of American Horror Story, is about to make history by stepping into the shoes of Chicago's Roxie Hart.

We know that Via The Wrap has signed a contract to direct a Broadway production from next month, for eight weeks in total at the Ambassador Theatre.

Ross has been welcomed as the first openly transgender woman to conduct a Broadway show in Chicago since its quarter-of-a-century milestone.

Anthony Allen Ramos, GLAAD [Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation] vice president of communications and talent, addressed Ross on his historic casting.

Roxie Hart of Chicago is one of Broadway's most well-known, beloved and well-known characters, and a true talent like Angelica Ross will enthuse audiences with her remarkable acting, singing, and performance abilities.

"Angelica is also a respected leader in the transgender community, and she has joined L Morgan Lee as trans women of color currently starring on Broadway."

Yasmin Finney, a Heartstopper breakout star earlier this year, called for better opportunities for transgender actors.

"I think we'll really [have] a change when I can play a character whose gender identity or sexuality isn't specified," the Elle star said. "That's when the industry will begin to see trans actors as normal actors like everyone else, and we can play whatever role that we want to. When I can play a cis role, it's sunshine and rainbows."

American Horror Story is available on FX in the United States and Disney+ in the United Kingdom. Seasons 1-9 are available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video.
