Fans have been given their first superhero film featuring Superman's super-powered canine Krypto the Superdog, which has provided an adorable and sometimes terrifying animal companion throughout the years. It's a great time to look at some of the most well-known super-pets.
Krypto the Superdog: Supermans Best Friend
Krypto the Superdog, a Kryptonian white dog that embodies all of Superman's super-powered powers, is the best place to start with.
Krypto, although no one can understand him, has all the heroism and desire to stand up for the good fight, as well as founding his own kind of Justice League known as the League of Super-Pets. He has also starred in his own animated series and in DCs League of Super-Pets, where, for better or worse, he is voiced by Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
Lockjaw: The Inhumans Royal Pet
Lockjaw is one of Marvel's most powerful super-pets and a key member of the Inhumans, although he's basically a giant bulldog.
Lockjaw can be a significant physical threat to the Inhumans due to his size and ferocity, but it's that glowing antenna that forms on his head that makes him special as it allows him to teleport the entire team out of danger. Hopefully, if the Inhumans return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans will be reunited with their favorite super-powered dog.
Lucky the Pizza Dog: One-Eyed Wonder
Lucky the Pizza Dog is a fan-favorite Marvel pet that is often seen with Kate Bishop and Clint Barton, being one of the few super-pets mentioned here without any powers.
Lucky is a fantastic companion for Kate and Clint, offering them love and pizza after a difficult day of heroism, and even helps out in battle with some quick and sharp bites. Disney+s Hawkeye is especially loved by fans.
Lockheed: A Small, But Devastating Dragon
The X-Men have a slew of strange and powerful mutants in their ranks, but none are as unique as Lockheed, the small purple dragon who assists some notable X-Men.
Lockheed is often depicted as the companion of Kitty Pride in the comics, and was most recently seen by audiences in The New Mutants as the stuffed dragon and eventually real dragon friend of Illyana Rasputina/Magik. Even if he is small, he is extremely powerful as his fire-breathing can be devastating, and he can even resist Professor X's telepathy.
Redwing: Falcons High-Flying Friend
Sam Wilson had always had a falcon sidekick by his side named Redwing that he shared a telepathic connection with throughout his career as Falcon and Captain America in the comics.
After Red Skull messes with the Cosmic Cube, Sam establishes a telepathic connection with Redwing, allowing the two to communicate in combat. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Redwing is merely a mechanical robot that Sam can control, but most fans remember him as a real falcon who was a threat to every opponent.
Gleek: Circus Monkey Turned Superhero
Gleek is an alien monkey who went from working for the circus to working alongside The Wonder Twins when he was introduced in the DC animated series Super Friends.
Gleek would provide some jovial animal comedy and some incredible power in battle thanks to his improved strength and elastic tail. Gleek is one of the most well-known super-pets.
Old Lace: Runaways Protector
Old Lace, a mutated dinosaur that is particularly close to Gert, is included among the many young Marvel heroes.
Old Lace is incredibly protective of Gert and, even though she can't travel on many of the Runaways' missions, she is a great protector of the teams hideout in the Hulus Runaways series. She played a major role in establishing an emotional bond between Gert and his parents, Stacey and Dale.
Cosmo the Space Dog: A Canine Cosmonaut
Cosmo the Space Dog isnt necessarily the pet of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but he is a very trusted confidant for the organization.
Cosmo, a former Soviet Union test animal who gained psionic abilities while on his space missions, often assists the Guardians when they travel to Knowhere, following the appointment as Chief of Security, which he recently played in Square Enix's 2021 Guardians of the Galaxy game, and hopefully MCU fans will be able to see Cosmo's Russian accent in a future Guardians adventure.
Chp: The Tiniest Green Lantern
Chp is one of the most well-known DC super-pets, as he is the smallest, yet one of the most notable members of the Green Lantern Corps.
Chp was worthy of the rings power as a Green Lantern and can conjure up whatever he wants. Although he's tiny, he is a powerful force in the Green Lantern Corps and has a charming and adorable personality that fans love. Thankfully, Chp also appeared alongside Krypto in League of Super-Pets, where he was voiced by Diego Luna.
Bruce Bat's Best Friend: Ace the Bat-Hound
Yes, Batman has an animal sidekick. Ace the Bat-Hound is Batman's trusted dog sidekick who generally matches his dark and brooding intensity and can be a great asset in battle.
Ace has a wealth of useful items in his arsenal as well as some excellent stealth that makes him appropriate to work alongside The Dark Knight. Like Krypto, he is a key founder of the League of Super-Pets and plays a key role in the new animated film where he's voiced by Kevin Hart.
