Martin McDonagh's Oscar-nominated 2017 crime drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, returns to Ireland in the first trailer for his short stay in the American heartland.
Colin Farrell plays Padraic, an affable and kind man who lives on the fictional remote island of Inisherin, who is abruptly shaken by his once-close friend Colms (Brendan Gleeson) decision to sever their friendship, prompting everyone from Padraic's sister Siobhan (Kerry Condon) to the town priest to inquire as to the source of Colms' animosity.
Any admirer of McDonagh's work should recognize the film's tone: tragically funny and darkly humorous, brimming with colorful dialogue and succinctly memorable quips. Ben Davis and Carter Burwell return to contribute the cinematography and score for the latest film from Billboards.
The Banshees of Inisherin will be released in theaters on October 21.
