Most times, you're almost certain to sink other ships in the Sea of Thieves. However, occasionally, you may wish to sink your own ship. Whether you're stuck on rocks, overrun by enemies, or want to return to an Outpost, you can resort to sinking your own ship. The fastest way to do this is to vote to destroy the ship.
How do I vote to scuttle the ship in the Sea of Thieves?
You and your crew must first open the Options Menu (Select on Xbox, Esc on PC) and select My Crew. Then, click the next option that says Scuttle Ship and select Yes. The scuttle vote works the same way as putting someone in the brig.
If you choose to scuttle the ship, it will begin to sink, along with any items or treasure on it. You will lose all of your possessions on the ship if you choose to, so make sure you do not have anything valuable on it.
After the ship sinks, a mermaid will be nearby to assist you in getting to an island or outpost. Your ship will also return there with any modifications you may have made before you set sail. Scuttling your ship can save you from enemies who will not leave you alone.
In the Sea of Thieves, there are other methods to sink your own vessel.
If your crew doesn't agree to sink the ship, you can take matters into your own hands. However, the process may be a bit complicated, and you may wind up in the brig if your crew doesn't like you sinking the ship. If you don't have to be near land or another ship to do the damage, you can try to flood the ship by putting water into the ship or burning it down with Firebombs.
