With Unreal Engine 5, a Concept Video Demonstrates What a God of War Remake Could Look Like ...

God of War Ragnarok will be released later this year, with the new game expected to complete the Norse mythology storyline that began with the 2018 God of War PS4 game. Some fans have hoped for a return to the franchise's early days, demanding that the original God of War be rebuilt or remastered.

Sony has yet to announce any intentions to remake God of War, but fans now have an idea of what such a project might look like if it were built using Unreal Engine 5. The video shows Kratos, equipped with the Blades of Chaos, exploring various Greek mythology settings and Zeus.

The original God of War is reimagined in this video in a way that is more in line with the current God of War game and the upcoming God of War Ragnarok. One of the most obvious ways this is accomplished is by using a camera angle that is very similar to the one seen in earlier God of War titles.

The good news is that the majority of the series is readily available on PlayStation's latest hardware, both for PS4 and PS5. God of War 3 Remastered is a native PS4 release, while a PlayStations Plus Premium subscription gives God of War enthusiasts access to the HD versions of God of War and God of War: Ascension.

While God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta are not included in the lineup, it's possible that PS Plus Premium may expand to include these games later on, especially since the service is expected to add more PS3 titles later on.

The expectations for previous God of War games are unclear, but as for the franchise's future, we know exactly what's in store. The release date for God of War Ragnarok is just around the corner, so the wait for Kratos and Atreus is coming to an end.

PS2 version of God of War is now available.
