MultiVersus, a platform fighting game based on Smash Bros., has become one of the most popular virtual currencies. Gold serves as the non-paid currency that can be earned from just playing the game. There are quite a few methods to get your hands on it.
This guide will explain why you need it and how to build it up so you won't spend your real cash on certain unlockables in the game.
Why do you need gold?
The most obvious use is to unlock characters. While the game has a rotating roster of free characters, players must buy any of the other fighters they want to use. This can be done with real money (which can be exchanged for the in-game currency Gleamium).
While every character can be purchased for gold, the same cant be said for the alternate skins for said characters. Some skins, such as the classic Iron Giant skin that lacks the Superman-inspired S chest emblem, can be purchased for 250 gold. However, most skins that completely change a character's attire are Gleamium-exclusive.
Gold is also available to unlock equippable perks for your characters in the game. Each character has its own set of advantages that must be unlocked individually. These abilities, buffs, and bonuses give your fighters and teammates new abilities and bonuses in battle.
How do you get more gold?
Starter Missions are the initial ways to earn gold. These serve as the tutorial for MultiVersus. Completing these missions earns you about 2,000 gold, which is as much as many of the characters cost. The other methods to earn more gold arent too difficult or confusing.
MultiVersus has daily missions that can be completed to earn quick cash, as well as offline AI matches, unless it is specified as a single mode.
The Battle Pass works well when you level up characters, and it earns you a decent amount of gold. The Battle Pass does not have to be purchased in order for players to enjoy it; it has free tiers, which earn currency if you complete them early. One example of an early free tier on the Battle Pass is to reach level 2, which earns 250 gold.
100 gold per fighter is earned by leveling up all of the characters in the current roster to level 5. You may also earn 100 gold per level up on your actual WB account.
You also earn gold by finishing matches in the game. The gold earned this way may be increased by 30% by simply inviting a friend to join your team and play with you. Playing with a friend also gives you an extra 30% XP boost for character development.
The final method of earning more gold is through the toast system. If a player toasts you, they give you 25 gold out of their virtual pocket. This method of earning gold isn't always reliable, but when it does happen, it's a bit of extra cash you can throw in the way of more unlockable characters or perks.
The most effective methods to unlock gold and the unlockables you can obtain with it may change in the future, so this guide may continue to be updated as the game progresses.
