The North American VCT Last Chance Qualifier match today featured a talented underdog team in Shopify Rebellion, and the team once considered the best in North America, Cloud9. The match also marked the debut of the Shopify mens VALORANT team, though these players previously competed against Luminosity.
C9 and Shopify fought back to win the first shutout in the League of Legends, revealing how close the series actually is.
Both of these rosters have appeared to be particularly weak in 2022, but they haven't matched up to the other top teams in NA. C9, despite having advanced to international LAN events in the past, has been out of form since their roster changes earlier in the season.
Fans hoped that a shakeup in the organization would give new life to the shop that hasnt been able to climb the ladder to the top tier of VALORANT despite some close matches against North American favorites.
C9's defense was strong, but moose made the difference for the team with creative moves around his smokes. Shopify erased the deficit C9 had opened with a 6-6 halftime equalizer.

C9 picked their map pick 13-10 to start off the series after continuing to battle back and forth over a total of 23 rounds.
bdog, a Shopifys Chamber player who finished the map with 40 kills to only 20 deaths, fought early and broke each others' economies, with bdog showing his potential throughout much of Challengers Stage 2.
C9's post-plant clutch potential cant be overstated, and both players took their attacking side with renewed energy on Fracture. The veteran team showed strength and team coordination, defeating the bdogs' assault.
The biggest takeaway from this match is that every NA team is battling tooth and nail for this last LCQ spot. Though both of these teams arent at the top of the region, they have steadily improved and maintained their pace today.
Tomorrow, C9 will face The Guard in the upper bracket, while Shopify will face Sentinels in the lower bracket on Sunday.
