Derek Hough Talks About Dancing ...

Derek Hough is an Emmy Award-winning dancer and choreographer as well as a six-time winner on Dancing With the Stars. Given his successful career, he believes he was born to dance.

Hough said on his OnStage Blog that as a child, he became immersed in the dance scene in his Utah hometown because his oldest sister started taking dance lessons, and the entire family began attending the dance school. I liked going, because I got to dance with girls, he said.

Hough is used to taking the lead in his dance routines, but recently posted a funny clip that showed him in a different role, and he admitted that it wasn't for him.

Derek Hough Spoofed a Viral Meme on Instagram

Derek Hough (@derekhough) has shared a post.

Hough was filmed rehearsing a move with World of Dance Season 4 winner Diego Pasillas in a video shared on his Instagram page. Pasillas attempts to lift Hough up and the TV judge is visiblely shocked and runs away from him.

The distinctive sound effect from the shotover canyon swing video that has become popular on social media is shown. In the clip, a terrified man is seen begging safety personnel to keep the swing over the canyon safe.

Hough wrote on his Instagram account on August 3 that he doesn't feel right being lifted. I'm freaked out. I hate being lifted.'

In the comment section, Houghs supporters and acquaintances reacted.

Haha! Gotta relax.. let it happen, man, according to Breaking Benjamin singer Benjamin Burley.

Another fan wrote, You're the lifter, not the liftee.

Now you know how the girls feel! a third fan joined in.

I do really like this idea. @dancingwiththestarsshould dedicate an episode to reversing gender roles! Another fan wrote that this way everyone knows what each other feels like.

Derek Hough Talks About Dancing What He Does When He Gets Nervous

Hough has been nervous about dancing for the first time in the lift video. During a previous interview with Jana Kramer on the Whine Down podcast, he admitted that he wasn't all confident about his abilities when he joined DWTS in 2007.

I was a bit averse in my earlier seasons, you know, and he revealed that I was uneasy. I was, to be honest, sort of faking it. People used to say, Oh, you are a great choreographer, but I never really looked at myself that way.

Hough admitted in a video interview with Meetin the Eatons that he still gets nervous onstage and disclosed what he does when his heart starts racing before a dance performance.

He said when I think of a word, I say Im excited, Im excited, Im so excited. And what that does is change your focus on all of the good things about performing, and showing everyone what youve been working on changes your focus, and where your focus goes, your energy flows.
