Dave Bautista, who starred in Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune, looks set to star in and direct a new crime film for Netflix.
Deadline reports that a wrestler-turned-actor is contemplating directing a film entitled Unleashed. Jeff Tosmic, who directed the barmy comedy TAG, will direct the film, while the writers of Blockers, Jim and Brian Kehoe, are writing the script.
Bautista will play a cop who is partnered with a sniffer dog called Boomer. Unfortunately, the dog dies on the job and Bautista's character vows that he will never work with another dog again. But then he gets partnered with a new dog, Zeus.
According to a previous interview with Digital Spy, the actor said that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 might be his last chance to play Drax the Destroyer.
"I thought it was a brilliant idea, but I haven't heard any follow-up from the studio," says the actor.
Bautista has also been cast in the third Guardians film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which will be available on Netflix as the streaming company acquires the rights to the franchise and plans to make other sequels.
Knock at the Cabin, M Night Shyamalan's first film since Old last year, will feature him.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2 are now available on Disney+. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be released later this year, followed by the third Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, set to be released on May 5, 2023.
