This weekend, you may stream Prey, Uncharted, and any other new movie from your house ...

This week is perhaps the busiest of the year so far, thanks to a few new film releases: Hulu's new Predator film, (and its really good! ), three big animated films (Lightyear, Luck, and Belle) make their streaming debuts, Uncharted finally goes on Netflix, and two Best Picture nominees Licorice Pizza and Belfast finally land on streaming.

There's also a new Ron Howard film on Peacock's Thai cave rescue, a new Minions film, an intriguing horror film starring Rebecca Hall, and so much more.

This weekend, here's all you can expect from home.

Where to find out: Hulu is offering a streamable program.

Amber Midthunder (Hell or High Water) is played by Dan Trachtenberg in a Comanche warrior in 1719 who discovers the prey she thought she was stalking is a vicious headhunter from another world that is obsessed with killing humans for sport.

From our review:

Prey is a film about a young woman on a collision course with a cool skull mask; the other members of the Narus tribe are there to naysay and/or become Predator fodder. Sometimes, Trachtenberg establishes action from far above, while sometimes allowing the camera to see obstacles in a particularly muddy area.

Where to Find It: Netflix is offering a streamable program.

Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter who joins forces with partner-mentor Victor Sully Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to seek for Ferdinand Magellan's lost treasure, will be played by Tom Holland (Spider-Man: No Way Home).

From our evaluation:

The filmmakers have the appropriate understanding of what makes an Uncharted action sequence, whether it's reimagining something completely different that would fit within one of them, like a bit involving pirate ships being hoisted into the air by airplanes, but the execution is stale, inconsequential, and dull. Even a simple action scene that is enhanced to that point by generic action muzak, doesn't bring pleasure.

Pixars Lightyear

Where to find the show: Disney Plus is available for streaming.

Lightyear, a 2022 Toy Story spinoff, stars Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame), as a human, not a toy who accidentally crashes his exploration vehicle on an alien planet. He must find a new fuel source to power his ship while battling off the mysterious Zurg and his army of killer robots.

According to our assessment, this is the case.

Lightyear is a flash Gordon-style space adventure that's packed with fast-moving alien creepy crawlies, funny banter, and surprising futuristic food plots. It's no wonder all of this would appeal to Andy and his generation, who may see it the same way 6-year-olds do in our world: as an exciting adventure through a world of killer robots, creepy monsters, and cool laser swords.

Lightyear is so clearly suited to be something more: a thoughtful reflection on the passage of time. Its main themes all point to the need to connect with people and live in the present rather than the past. It's a warning about all the things we might miss if we focus on past mistakes rather than letting them go.

Where to find HBO Max content: Available for streaming on HBO Max

Belle, a sci-fi fantasy anime created by Mamoru Hosodas, follows Suzu, a reserved high school student who mourns the death of her mother, who finds solace and validation in the huge online world of U, where her virtual alter-ego Belle is a well-known pop singer. After one of her performances is interrupted by a mysterious figure known as the Dragon, Suzu sets out in search of him in an attempt to understand the unspoken connection they have with one another.

From our review:

The simple truth about Beauty and the Beast (or at least the 1991 Disney adaptation) is that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. With the ambitious, decisively uncynical new anime film Belle, writer-director Mamoru Hosoda extends the story's relevance to the internet age. Enchanted singing candlesticks transform into mewling AIs, but Mirai and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time pushes the core message one step further by emphasising that vulnerability is

What to watch: HBO Max is available for streaming.

Belfast was at one point an Oscar frontrunner, and it finally receives its streaming debut a year after it's released.

Oli Welsh's argument about why it deserved to be named Best Picture

Belfast is a sincere, heartfelt film that strives to honor a time and place that means a lot to Branagh. It is also a funny movie, and beautifully performed. The gorgeous younger couple adds some unrealistic but far from unwelcome movie star glamor to the kitchen-sink drama.

Licorice Pizza

Where to Find It: Prime Video is available for streaming.

Alana Haim, Cooper Hoffman, Sean Penn, Tom Waits, Bradley Cooper, and Benny Safdie are among the 2022 Oscar contenders.

Joshua Riveras' article on why it was worthy to win Best Picture:

Licorice Pizza is a straightforward film, constructed with care and dedication, that is contrary to what people refer to as awards bait, which implies an immediate desire to succeed. It's a complex romance between two young people who are both in love as much as in a turbulent decade.

Where to find it: On Apple and Vudu, you may rent for $6.99.

Resurrection, a psychological thriller starring Rebecca Hall (The Night House), will be released in 2022. When David (Tim Roth), a charismatic and manipulative man from her past, returns to torture her.

From our analysis, this is:

Resurrection is bound to be divisive. It is actively attempting to fascinate its viewers, which some may find more disturbing than what actually takes place in the film. But whatever the circumstances, the film continues to hold its ground, always holding its ground securely.

Minions: The Rise of Gru

Where to watch: Available for $19.99 on Amazon, Apple, and Vudu.

Minions: The Rise of Gru, the fifth installment in the Despicable Me movie franchise and the harbinger of many, many memes, follows the story of a young Gru (Steve Carell) and his rise to supervillainy with the help of a colorful army of mischief-making minions.

From our review:

Minions: The Rise of Gru is a result of low expectations. The Rise of Gru is a fifth installment of Illumination Entertainments popular series that does not have to be groundbreaking, remarkable, or even particularly funny to make a splash. In that sense, this is a film that does the job well. It is neither a unique masterpiece nor a teeth-gnashing pain.

Where to find the program: Netflix has a streaming service.
