Speedrunning is alive and well in the gaming industry. One of the most popular games is Valve's 2007 puzzle masterpiece Portal, which has raised more than $3 million last month.
Ethan29, a speedrunner who set a new world record in Portal not long ago, by getting to the finish in less than six minutes, compared to 5:55:320 for the same category. This means that runners may use extraordinary precision and speed to shave off precious frames.
User Shizzal was able to set the world record by speedrunning through Portal in 5:56, which is still insane. At the time of writing, this is the number three spot on the game, and it remains to be seen whether this latest world record holder will be knocked off their list. Additionally, seeing it defeat in less than six minutes demonstrates how much skill and dedication some individuals have.
When a Portal: Companion Collection surprise launched on Switch a few weeks back, Valve's puzzle series briefly reappeared. This edition includes both Portal games and marks the developer's first Nintendo console launch.
Portal and Portal 2 have been praised over the years as great family game nights. Both were well-received upon their respective releases, and continue to be enjoyed today. Many have praised both the original game's main protagonist GLaDOS, as well as J.K. Simmons' excellent voice acting.
