On Friday, MAPPA unveiled the new teaser for its upcoming Chainsaw Man anime, which will introduce the series' Japanese voice cast and announce that the series will premiere in October. Like many other MAPPA anime, Crunchyroll will mimic Chainsaw Man in the United States, including Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2.
The trailer opens with a shot of Makima, one of the series' main characters flanked by two Devil hunters, as she enters a warehouse full of murdered bodies, before continuing into a series of shots of protagonist Denji, his fellow Devil hunters Aki Hayakawa and Power, and Makima going about their daily lives before ending in a montage of a now-transformed Denji dodges attacks and dismantles Devils with his chainsaw hands.
The series follows Denji, a teen orphan living in a world populated by Devils, supernatural creatures born out of human fears.
Denji is forced to work as a Devil hunter in order to pay back the debt owed by his father's absence. Denji accepts Pochita's offer, then fusing the creature with his dying heart to become Chainsaw Man, a frighteningly powerful Devil-human hybrid with the ability to remove chainsaws from his body.
The first part of the manga, the Public Safety arc, which ended on December 14, 2020, will be adapted in the anime. New chapters will be published every Tuesday and available for reading on Shonen Jump.
