Stray has been one of the most refreshing and enjoyable games of the year, offering fans a unique experience and loads of adorable cat moments. With various hints and clues, fans were able to not only learn more about the various characters in the game, but also about the world as a whole with different hints and clues in the form of murals, pictures, and conversations.
At the end of Stray, the cat finds himself back in the open wilderness of the world without humans. While many may see this as the end, it is clear that the cat has a lot more to do since now his journey will be about returning to the world the cat was familiar with. So, while Stray was intended to be set in the outside world, Stray 2 should be set in the real world as the cat seeks to find his missing family.
Search For The Family
The game gave us an insight into the close bond the cat family shared, so when the cat fell and woke up inside the city, it became clear that his only goal was to reunite with his lost family. After finally solving the puzzles and challenges to get back out, the cat lost his companion drone, B-12, and is now alone in the outside world. So, his next logical goal would be to not only survive the outside world, but also look for his lost family.
The cat will face a lot of unexpected obstacles in a world that is brimming with mystery and intrigue. The city that players have explored in the first game will likely be dominated by nature and filled with other animals that may be the real challenge. However, the resourceful cat should be able to handle anything that is thrown at it and continue the search for his lost family.
The Human Story
One of the main issues that emerged from Stray was how did the Zurks manage to get rid of all of them without ever getting to know them in the first place. It is possible that a handful of humans still exist, although it will likely attempt to establish a connection with them without a drone.
If Stray 2 is set outside the game, then many human questions will need to be answered, either by showing players that not all humans died and having the cat run into a few, or by leaving clues as to how the humans encountered their fate. Through murals, signs, messages, and more, the human story of Stray can be erased, and the game can finally answer all of the lingering questions that players have.
New Robots and Companion
B-12, the cats friendly and resourceful drone companion, has died, having given up his own life to unlock the entrance of the walled city and let the cat go. However, with a new game, there will be new challenges, new interactions, and new puzzles that the cat may need to solve, and more robots will likely mean a new drone companion.
B-12 was a fun, funny character, but his feelings and intelligence tended to stem from the fact that he was once a human. So, Stray 2's companion might have been cold and calculated, since it would have needed that to survive in the outside world's dangers. However, for Stray 2, to be as enjoyable and lore heavy as the first game, it will need a new companion that can assist the cat in connecting with the inhabitants of the outside world and returning to his family.
Strays' arrival was not only a breath of fresh air, but it also enticed the fans' imagination and intrigue. This has led many fans to wish that a sequel to the game would be released in the future so they may continue to explore and understand the world while controlling the adorable cat. Stray 2 is already set to be a fun sequel.
Stray is currently available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
