EP Dissects Dark Cliffhanger and Shares Renewal Update: 'We Have Another Big Chapter' in Physical Se ...

Dont You Say Its Over, the title from the second season of Physicals, might well double as a renewal rallying cry, although it appears that Apple TV+ will need to be persuaded to bring the Rose Byrne drama back for a third season.

The EP reveals a lot more information about the season in an act of great optimism. We have another significant chapter at least in her story. Im still working on something [about Season 3] and im feeling good about it.

Byrnes Sheila is ready to take her aerobics empire to the next level, including her now-estranged husband Danny, who is looking for the other half of her expanding lifestyle brand in the final act. And then as we learn in the episodes final act a new younger and prettier and smarter aerobics phenom has entered the fray, and she's looking for Sheila's market share.

Sheila, however, is willing to start enforcing fire with fire. In the closing scene, she reach out to her unsavory boyfriend, John, and persuades him to assist her in annihilating the competition.

Weisman delves into key moments of the finale and offers a brief hint about a third season.

TVLINE | Did you always envision Sheila and Danny becoming adversaries in the series this season? From the start of the season I had this line in my head of him saying, I dont like who youve become, and thats what we were [building] to in the finale. Sheila starts the season saying, I hate you to Danny. And hes trying to restore her love. And at the end of the season I wanted him to say, I dont like who youve become.

Sheila appeared to make a lot of emotional and mental progress this season, but all of that progress was shattered the moment she saw her new challenge Its like two steps forward, one step back. I don't believe she reverts all the way back but I do think she's reverting to some dark stuff. However, there's also regression.

Sheila said to John that she loved him, did she mean it? There's certainly some thinking going on there, though it's not entirely sincere.

The final sentence she wants to annihilate the competition suggests we'll see a darker Sheila in Season 3? Were certainly teeing up a confident businesswoman somebody who has learned from her connection with John Breem how to navigate that world.

Have we seen Murray Bartletts Vinnie's last appearance on TVLINE? I hope not. We'd love to have him back.

TVLINE | I'm curious about the decision to avoid the big confrontation between Danny and Sheila after he discovered she had been lying to him with John. Was it a timing issue? I liked the idea of just jumping over that big picture, because it was information we already knew as an audience. It was just an instinct I had to get there where Sheila had to go through a lot of recovery.
