With a decisive victory over Cloud9, OpTic secures the winners' finals in the HCS NA Super champions ...

OpTic Gaming sprang out on all cylinders in the winners semi-finals against Cloud9, who has won three tournaments in a row.

The series did not initially appear to be in OpTics' favor, with Strongholds in game one crashing to the wire between the two teams. What appeared to be C9s victory lap at the 246-point mark, with two Strongholds in their possession, proved to be a momentum shift in OpTics' favor. OpTics' subsequent teamfight saw the Greenwall steal a last-minute triple cap and shut C9 out until the comeback was complete.

After a momentum swing, C9 looked comparatively shaky in the final two games. While game one had been won by just a few clutch plays and OpTics late game control of the power weapons, Slayer on Live Fire was won by OpTics total dominance of the maps key positions and power weapons.

FormaL turned an early hold on the Heatwave and Sniper Rifle into a killing spree, allowing C9 little time to breathe and formulate a strategy of attack to regain control. OpTics saw his performance as well, and FormaL spent little time without one of the two weapons being pressed into his hands, helping OpTics maintain their lead even further. By the time OpTic had secured 50 kills and the win, FormaL had easily topped every leaderboard with

C9's fate was sealed before game three had even begun. FormaL and Trippys combined efforts in the Capture The Flag match, each finishing with over 7000 damage, finally sealed their fate. In the closing stages, OpTic never gave up their slim lead in the scoreline, despite constant pressure from C9 pushes.

OpTics' current form and C9s recent roster alteration, in the form of Bound replacing Renegade, had OpTic favored to win, nobody had predicted it to happen in such a fashion. Its a promising sign for OpTics' potential in the remaining stages of the tournament, as they continue to seek for their first major victory in the face of C9 and Sentinels' later in the tournament.
