At NA VCT Last Chance Qualifier, The Guard defeats Cloud9 ...

Today, the Guard ended the Cloud9s' win streak, sending them to the bottom bracket in the VALORANT Champions Tour North American Last Chance Qualifier.

The Guard has struggled to establish themselves as a team since winning Challengers One. They lost both their series at Masters Reykjavik and went 1-4 during the group stage qualifiers of Masters Berlin. But since returning from the break, The Guard has been on an upward trajectory, especially after a win against Sentinels in the first round of the LCQ.

C9 fought their way past Shopify Rebellion in order to advance to their match-up against The Guard, a team who had previously beaten them in Challengers One. The guard clawed their way back from a two-round deficit to win the map 13-9.

The Guard chose Ascent for the second map, seemingly possessing the advantage after the first half concluded. However, C9 started to struggle to catch up to The Guard despite playing into neTs Killjoy. With the map tied at 11 rounds apiece, The Guard pulled out a massive thrifty round, giving The Guard a huge advantage and match point.

Can we also take a moment to reflect on this NASTY play from @neT_valorant and @Sayaplayer?!? #StandGuard | #VCT

Cloud9 fell 13-11 on Ascent, claiming the MVP award for map two with an ADR of 153 and a 1.25 KD.

The Guard is continuing to resemble the team that attracted the attention of North America during VCT Stage One, and will continue their run in the upper bracket next weekend against the winner of FaZe Clan and 100 Thieves. C9 will have to qualify for Istanbul via the lower bracket.
