Sentinels defeated Shopify Rebellion in the first elimination match of the North American VCT LCQ. Unfortunately for Shopify, their 2022 VCT season concludes here. And with franchising looming over the VCT in 2023, the roster's future remains hazy.
Both Shopify and Sentinels were on the losing side of tough overtime hurdles to begin the tournament that sent them to the lower bracket. In the LCQ, both teams were in desperate need of their tournament lives.
The majority of the issues that resulted from the Sentinels' first match were related to growing disgruntled new members. Shroud, who has been playing in his first major esports tournament since his retirement in 2018, and Zellsis, who previously played in V1, are both excellent replacements, but team coordination takes time.
Sentinels chose Breeze as the first map, and Shopifys mada chosen Yoru, a similar design to Masters finalists Paper Rex. Despite the recent Yoru rework, North American teams havent yet fully explored the potential of the agent.
Instead, shroud and moose, both on Viper, made a huge difference for their teams on the map. Both used their power to hide, gain a positional advantage, and defeat their opponents, and both Vipers ended up at the top of the scoreboard.

Sentinels prevailed and beat Breeze superbly 13-8, with Shroud leading his team with a 43% headshot hit rate.
Sentinels poured all of their energy from Breeze into Fracture, but Shopify began to lose ground. Both teams were able to gain site control and plant the spike over and over, demonstrating a clear defensive weakness on both sides. Mada played a critical role in Shopify regaining ground on Neon instead of Yoru, and the company began to recruit more members to help with these plays.
Sentinels fought back, winning rounds that seemed impossible. Shroud began to bloom once again and made a significant impact on the team on Fracture. However, small errors started to show up for Sentinels as Shopify worked their way back from a 12-8 deficit to put the game in overtime.
Zellsis put the team up the victory with a sneaky defensive push that eliminated three Shopify employees in round 31, paveing the way for Sentinels to take Fracture 17-15 and the series 2-0. After the match, shroud mentioned the team felt more secure today.
I was feeling good the second day of today, according to shroud in his post-game interview. Once you have that one really good round, you know the rest of the series will be wonderful.
Shopify fell in overtime on Fracture once again, but the team is still showing signs of improvement across their roster. Moose and mada are two of the best players to play today.
Sentinels will continue to struggle through their lower bracket run and will face the loser of FaZe Clan against 100 Thieves.
