Giants vs Patriots Preview

New York will play starters, while New England will rest many of their starters in the teams' preseason opener.

Brian Daboll, the Giants' head coach, said on Giants.com. I haven't even talked about it with the players yet. I think our primary focus is on improving. I'd probably told them sooner.

The game is now available on twitter.com/D8W4KIr2RM

The New England Patriots (@Patriots) will be crowned on August 11, 2022.

After the Giants' ownership fired Joe Judge in January, Daboll, a first-year head coach, took over. Judge notably joined the Patriots and became an offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach.

The Giants finished the season with a 4-13 record, while the Patriots returned to playoff form before being beaten by Buffalo in the AFC playoffs. Daboll was also a former Patriots offensive coordinator in the 1980s.

Im so focused on doing everything right every day, according to Daboll via Sports Illustrateds Giants Country. Obviously, hes [Belichick is] a mentor of mine, but I havent sat there and been like, Oh, this is the first game. He has coached what, 750 games? This is just my first preseason game. Im not really concerned about myself.

According to ESPN, the Giants intend to play starters, but the Patriots might pick multiple starters, such as quarterback Mac Jones. The Patriots will also get a good look at rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe in the process.

Running back Pierre Strong Jr. and wide receiver Tre Nixon were among the favorites to watch in the preseason opener on 98.5 The Sports Hub. On defense, lineman LaBryan Ray, linebacker Anfernee Jennings, and defensive back Joshuah Bledsoe is expected to impress on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Coaches will get a good look at the Giants' first-round draft pick, offensive lineman Evan Neal and linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux.
