Despite the huge success of this year's Robert Pattinson reboot, the Batman 2 is still in its early stages of development.
David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros Discovery, addressed investors last week about the future of the Worlds of DC, confirming that director Matt Reeves is on track with the next Caped Crusader film, although an official seal hasn't been given (via Variety).
The only DC film to have a release date after 2022 is Joker: Folie a Deux.
Reeves addressed CinemaCon attendees in April, saying, "Thank you all for your incredible support of The Batman. We would not have been here without all of your efforts and dedication throughout the world."
"I'm excited to return to this world for the next chapter."
Let's hope that he can nail the plot sooner rather than later.
Following his appointment as a Worlds of DC consultant, Reeves will have to deal with former Disney film chief Alan Horn.
Zaslav gave an outline of the universe's ten-year strategy on the same shareholders' call: "These are brands that are well-known throughout the world. We've changed the direction." There will be a team with a ten-year strategy focused solely on DC.
"We believe we can create a much more sustainable business. It's very similar to the structure Alan Horn, Bob Iger, and Kevin Feige put together very effectively at Disney."
"We believe we can create a much stronger, long-term growth company out of DC. As part of that, we will focus on quality. We will not release any film until it's ready. DC is something we can make better."
The Batman is available on Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and DVD.
