In the Aaron and Liv story, Emmerdale's manager vows to resolve loose ends ...

Teaser for Emmerdale to follow.

After their bitter separation last year, Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks has promised that the show will resolve Aaron Dingle and Liv Flaherty's plotline.

Aaron feared that Liv may have murdered his boyfriend Ben Tucker when he said his final goodbyes to the village in December 2021.

Once Aaron had gone for a few weeks, the villagers discovered that serial murderer Meena Jutla was the real perpetrator in Ben's death. Liv, who had been charged for the crime, was released from jail.

As part of the ITV soap's 50th anniversary celebrations, Emmerdale executives announced that Aaron would return for a temporary period.

Brooks was only briefed by Digital Spy on whether the Liv drama would be revisited: "Aaron comes back to the program ostensibly to see Faith, but obviously there's a lot of loose ends to tie up with Liv.

"They left things on quite dismal terms, so there's still room to be explored between the brother and sister dynamic."

"With the fact that Aaron's mother is having an affair with Al, who is hugely disliked by the Dingle clan, there's a lot of meaty drama for Aaron to deal with."

Aaron's return is expected to be linked to the ongoing Sandra Flaherty plot. Liv's mother has recently returned to the village under false pretences and has been manipulating her daughter for her own benefit.

In October, Emmerdale will commemorate its 50th anniversary, and special episodes will feature the returns of Tracy Metcalfe and Diane Sugden for the first time.

Brooks said in a recent interview: "They'll return and be at the heart of some really big stories that'll impact their lives, not just their lives, but the lives of the characters they leave behind."

Emmerdale is available on ITV weeknights at 7.30pm, and it also goes on the ITV Hub.
