Tamzin Outhwaite, a former EastEnders star, has joined the cast of The Tower's second series, playing a fresh character named Cathy Teel.
Outhwaite isn't the only familiar face to appear in the ITV drama series, as well as Niamh Cusack of Death in Paradise as Claire Mills and Ella Smith of The Nevers as DC Elaine Lucas.
"It's a testament to Kate's novels and her complex female characters that we have been able to attract these three brilliant actresses to The Tower," according to screenwriter Patrick Harbinson.
The Tower II: Death Message is a police procedural drama that first aired in September, following the relaunch of the series by author Kate London.
Gemma Whelan will reprise her role as DS Sarah Collins and Tahirah Sharif will reprise her role as PC Lizzie Adama in Death Message.
Lizzie Adama (Sharif) will take her back to Farlow Station, where her previous boss and lover, Kieran Shaw (Emmett J Scanlan) has linked her up with Arif Johar (Michael Karim).
Sharif previously said that the program may develop even further: "I mean, Kate London... The Tower is based on Post Mortem, [and] I believe she's written three novels." "The book series] kind of follows Lizzie and Sarah, these two characters, through their personal lives and careers and possibly meeting again in different situations.
"I think it's certainly feasible to continue going," says the author, solely based on the fact that there are already two other novels written.
ITV broadcasts The Tower.
EastEnders airs on BBC One Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7.30pm, while some episodes air during summer sporting events. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
