Deckmate is a swiss-army accessory for your Steam Deck ...

A new Steam Deck component has been released, which is essentially a swiss army knife of handheld gaming addons. The Deckmate is a clip-on system that allows the portable gaming PC to perform all kinds of neat tasks, like carrying a power bank like a backpack and hanging on the wall like Spider-Man.

Back in May, the Deckmate for Steam Deck was released as a 3D printed hot swappable accessory project, meaning you will not need to print the parts yourself. The digital files are still available on the Deckmate website for free, so you can still do your thrifty printing business.

The Deckmate is basically four accessories in one, including a kickstand, VESA bracket, and whatever else thatll stick to the portables back. That latter part means you may, in theory, have the best SSD for gaming hidden behind the Deck or a battery bank for extra on-the-go juice.

The entire Deckmate system is available for $49 USD. Individual mounts and the main grip are also available, so you may test the system out and pay less money. Again, 3D printer parents may use their stunning machine to print the parts for free, but that option comes with the usual DIY construction limitations.

The Steam Deck hasn't been around for that long, but there's already a large array of third-party accessories available. Valves' official docking station might be practically vapourware at this point, but the finest Steam Deck dock options are popping up left right and centre, and a SteamOSupdate recently improved the portability docking experience.
