Splatoons Splatfest makes a comeback with a 4v2v2 twist in Splatoon 3

Splatoons Splatfest makes a comeback with a 4v2v2 twist in Splatoon 3 ...

When the Nintendo Switch competitive inkshooter launches this summer, Splatoon 3 will bring back the series popular multiplayer events known as Splatfests. But unlike two team choices, players will choose from one of three sides, and they will ultimately fight for supremacy in a three-team, 4v2v2 match called the Tricolor Turf War.

During a Nintendo Direct presentation on Wednesday, Nintendo revealed the first Splatfest coming to Splatoon 3. It'll be rock vs. paper vs. scissors, and will begin on August 27 as part of a Splatoon 3 demo coming to Switch in September.

The three teams will compete in four-v-4 Turf War battles in the first half. The second half will feature the new Tricolor Turf War battles, in which three teams fight at the same time. Will the first-place team defend themselves in this unique 4-v-2-v-2 match type?

It appears and sounds chaotic, and it appears to be a fun spin on the Splatoon Splatfest formula.

The Splatoon 3: Splatfest World Premiere demo will be released on August 25, giving competitors a chance to refresh their Splatoon skills for a few days before entering the new three-way Splatfest. That event will begin August 27 and runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. PDT.

Marina and Pearl hosted previous Splatoon 2 events, but in Splatoon 3, the Deep Cut Trio is a three-creature team called the Deep Cut Trio: Frye, Shiver, and Big Man (a manta ray). The most recent Splatfest, held in Splatoon 2, occurred more than three years ago.

Splatoon 3 will be released on Nintendo Switch on September 9th. Nintendo will release a Splatoon 3-themed Switch OLED model (that does not include a copy of the game).
