Disney announced that new Disney Plus products would be released at today's shareholder meeting.
Starting December 8, a Disney streaming service will have ads for $7.99 a month. If youre scratching your head, doing the math, and wondering why your current ad-free subscription is about the same, that's because the ad-free tier will be known as Disney Plus Premium. All Disney Plus titles will still be available across both platforms.
Hulu, a Disney-owned streaming service, will also have a price increase starting on October 10, with the ad-free version going from $13.99 to $14.99 a month. The premium version, which includes Hulu without ads, has already announced that prices will rise at the end of the month.
Disney announced that an ad-supported Disney Plus version would be released in late 2022, although it was said to cost less than the ad-free version. And it's true; increasing the price of the ad-free version certainly makes the tier cheaper.
