The Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.2 trailer teases a new FF4 friend and an additional FF4 connection

The Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.2 trailer teases a new FF4 friend and an additional FF4 connection ...

The Producer's Letter LIVE Part LXII is available now on YouTube, giving FFXIV enthusiasts and players a huge taste of what patch 6.2 will be all about. Again, the story took center stage.

In particular, a previously unseen character who appeared to be a native of the Void was revealed in previous Main Story Quests (MSQ) that the void was not some strange evil dimension as previously assumed, but one of the 13 reflections of the First, the world on which the majority of FFXIV takes place.

The mysterious figure, who appears to be a Reaper, describes how the Void used to be filled with blue oceans and green grass, just as the First. This character can be seen later in the trailer fighting with the Warrior of Light and his allies.

The other thing that is immediately recognisable from the trailer is the music. Both tracks are modern variations of tracks from Final Fantasy 4, particularly from the Troia area of that game. Final Fantasy XIV will often pay tribute to previous Final Fantasy games, such as the Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII having characters from the Ivalice raid series.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.2 is expected to be released on August 23, 2022.
