Strange New Worlds Sets a New Record For Paramount+ Trek Shows ...

Fans of Star Trek have more options than ever before, with five episodes currently streaming and at least two more in the works. A favorite is likely to emerge.

Paramount has gone on to direct Picard, including Patrick Stewart reprising the role of Captain Jean Luc Picard, as well as the animated films Lower Decks and Prodigy. However, the show Strange New Worlds is popular among fans.

Strange New Worlds was reported to be the best Star Trek series on the Paramount+ streaming service by IndieWire. The British, in particular, enjoyed the program, as it was the second most watched series in the United Kingdom.

Strange New Worlds is a prequel to the original series and takes place aboard the USS Enterprise at a time when Christopher Pike is still in command. Pike, played initially by Jeffery Hunter, is now played by Anson Mount, who made his first appearance in the role on Discovery. Along with a cast of new characters, original series favorites Uhura and Spock also appear in the series.

Feeling The Love

Strange New Worlds appears to have escaped much of this kind of criticism. Star Trek lovers, and even stars like William Shatner, have not always had nice things to say about newer Trek programs.

According to IndieWire, Star Trek lovers throughout the world have embraced this incredible new Star Trek journey. The Star Trek universe is still one of the most popular on the service.

Kurtzman Recognized For His Work

Strange New Worlds' premiere episode was directed and written by showrunner Akiva Goldsman, who wrote the story along with Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet.

Kurtzman, in particular, is a well-known Trek character. In 2009, he co-wrote the script for the Star Trek reboot film starring Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk.

CBS president and CEO George Cheeks, according to Collider, expressed gratitude for Kurtzmans contributions to the various Nu Trek programs over the years.

Alex Kurtzman and his amazing team have created and carefully curated a new Star Trek universe for Paramount+, each with its own message, style, narrative, and, in some cases, target audience, according to Cheeks. Each series is a success in its own right, and now the franchises newest edition, Strange New Worlds, is earning critical acclaim and delivering notable performance achievements on the service, both domestically and internationally.

More Worlds To Come

Strange New Worlds' first season has come to an end, and all episodes are available on Paramount+. According to Kurtzman, the filming for season 2 has finished in July 2022. The 10-episode season is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2023.

We pledged to make Star Trek a reality that was previously unimaginable, and that's because of the many talented showrunners, writers, and directors who gave us the support we received from CBS Studios and Paramount+. Our current series are for the future as we prepare for Trek's next phase of programming in the future.
