Anubis, a star of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, has spoken out about how she was treated in the program.

"It just didn't reflect my experience." Anubis admits she wasn't happy with how she was shown on screen.

"I remember sitting there for hours listening to funny jokes, one liners, and having those minor moments when nothing was used," says the author. "I think they might have included some more of me being myself."

While speaking with Fubar Radio, she said her time on the program was a "double-edged sword."

"I don't regret it. I'd go back again," she said. "I think that it has, in a way, hindered me because a lot of people see me as Anubis from episodes one and nine and ten.

"And they just see me as that sort of young Brighton camp Queen who can't really do much, you know."

Anubis said: "I've gained a lot of my fan base from people that have watched Drag Race, so I think it's a good thing to have under my belt, the ability to use that platform, but also to do my own thing where I show people my comedy, the cabaret, or the burlesque that I do."

"So, I do believe it is probably a positive as well.

"I wish that I could get a little more chance to show off those abilities on television."

Season 3 of Drag Race UK concluded at the end of 2021, with 19-year-old Krystal Versace defeating Ella Vaday and Kitty Scott-Claus for the crown.

Hannah Waddingham, star of Sex Education, announced that she would be a guest judge for the upcoming series.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK is broadcast on BBC Three in the United Kingdom, and it is also available on WOW Presents Plus in the United States.
