Rachel Recchia, who is one of two women to star in The Bachelorette this season, has described her style as "mother of the bride," according to her stylist, Cary Fetman, in a July 11 interview with Entertainment Weekly. Many fans have criticized her fashion choices throughout the season, and Recchia has finally stood up to defend herself.
Who Chooses? The Stylist or The Bachelorette?

The bachelorette and the stylist choose the outfits together, according to Entertainment Weekly. Cary Fetman has been the franchise's chief wardrobe stylist for over two decades. Fetman meets with seasons stars before production to help her select outfits for every occasion, from glamorous gowns to athleisure to cozy jeans to snowsuits and fur-lined hats for romantic occasions on a glacier.
Fetman said the Bachelorette will tell Fetman their general styles and tastes, while he will continue to offer his own ideas. Recchia doesn't necessarily want to appear like the mother of the bride, but she prefers conservative clothing. That's the style of clothing that she prefers.
Gabby Windey, on the other hand, prefers to wear as little clothes on as possible, according to Fetman. Gabby's style is very sexy. She is the girl who most likely lived next door to you who never wanted to wear clothes and was constantly ripping off her clothes.
Fetman does his best to accommodate the individual tastes of the Bachelorettes, but also to keep their outfits as stylish as they may allow. Recchia and Windey allowed me to play as much as I could, but I tried to stay within their comfort zones.
Fans Have Their Own Opinions
Rachel Recchia (@pilot.rachel) shares a tweet.
Fans have been adamantly open on social media about their displeasure for Recchias' wardrobe choices. Some blame the Bachelorette, others the stylist, and some blame both. According to one Reddit user, the bachelorettes are indeed forced to pick from a vast array of outdated and sparkly items.
Another commentator said, "Its beyond embarrassing how horrible most of these leads look." And while Cary isnt holding a gun to peoples heads, he and TPTB are the only common denominators over the previous 20 years.
One fan said, "Rachel is a stunning lady, but why do they dress her like that?"
Recchia Claps Back
Rachel Recchia (@pilot.rachel) contributes a post to this blog.
Recchia spoke up for Fetman in an August 8 interview with Entertainment Weekly. Carys never forced us to wear anything. He takes into account every single thing that we like, or what makes us feel comfortable, and kind of just makes us feel beautiful.
Windey backed Recchias' assertion, adding that [Fetman] really gets to know our personalities and styles, but we get to choose our pieces in person.
One Reddit user replied to these questions with, ladies, blink three times! Another user commented, Why would they admit to this? Now they are going to be laughed at too when bad fashion choices are made lol.
