Pyramid Head, the original character from The Dead by Daylight, has been discussed and debated by the Silent Hill designer, who proposes that a different version of the monster should be included as a DBD killer in Behaviour Interactives asymmetrical multiplayer horror game.
Masahiro Ito, Silent Hill 2's art director and monster designer for the first trilogy of Silent Hill games, suggests that an alternative version of Pyramid Head might be used as a Dead by Daylight murderer, due to the fact that the original design of the monster was created specifically to relate to Silent Hill 2's protagonist, James Sunderland. In Silent Hill 2, one of the greatest horror games Pyramid Head is a dark reflection of James' feelings towards his wife.
The monster is only supposed to exist as a result of James' imagination and emotional struggle, and so it makes no sense, in terms of lore, that it would come chasing after Stranger Things Steve Harrington or Bill from Left 4 Dead.
Ito has nevertheless developed a different Pyramid Head, in which the underlying structure is transformed from the usual blood-and-rust red to a more neutral dull gray.
This iteration of the character was reportedly created in response to Silent Hill: Homecoming and the 2005 film adaptation of Silent Hill, which used the original design to Ito's displeasure since the monster was only meant to haunt and stalk James, and its inclusion in other Silent Hill media prompted Ito to create a more general Pyramid Head that would still appeal to fans, without contradicting series fiction.
According to Ito, the original PH was a character I created for James. But this [White Hunter] was another Pyramid Head that was not for James at the time. To me, if the white PH joins DBD as a killer, it's more than welcome, because I designed it for such a purpose.
Pyramid Head, or Executioner as its known in the game, falls somewhere in the middle, so a minor cosmetic change like changing a colour might be a nice tip of the (pyramid-shaped) hat to a great horror series and a respected monster designer.
