The greatest zombie games on PC 2022

The greatest zombie games on PC 2022 ...

What are the best PC zombie games for 2022? You can hardly walk on Steam without seeingtheseclutching at your ankle, so it's a valid question. Don't dismiss the whole genre just because there are tons of brainless clones, though. Our list of zombie-good games has everything an anzombie enthusiast could ask for.

Zombie games include simulation-style management games, cooperative games that are more Lovecraftian period pieces, and, if you like, you may take a shambling detour through tower defense games and post-apocalypse parkour. These are the top zombie games on PC, and no, we will not be taking any questions at this time.

In 2022, these are the best PC zombie games:

Left to Survive

It couldnt be more wrong with Left to Survive, since it is about zombies, right? Youll go through a level that has you blasting down the brain munchers as they come, and then youll return to your base where you'll build new structures, acquire additional materials, and acquire new weapons.

Left to Survive can offer both single and multiplayer experiences within its post-apocalyptic world. With a wide range of gameplay styles, it's certain to please most zombie lovers in some way or another.

For free, you may play Left to Survive.

Resident Evil

Resident Evil is a must-have for zombie games. You might have been spooked out of your wits by Resident Evil 7 in VR, or you may have found yourself reintroducing to the action-packed classic that is Resi 4, but you will still find plenty of frights in the game where it all began. Without the unnecessary add-ons, Resident Evil is one of the finest horror games out there.

As Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine enters the Spencer Mansion, vicious zombies and deadly mutations lurk behind every turn in Resident Evil, often obscured or blocked by clever environmental puzzles. Fixed camera angles increase the feeling of claustrophobia, and your limited inventory keeps you vulnerable.

If Resident Evil isn't scary enough, you can grab it on Steam for a 2015 remake. This is a remake, though, which includes new environments, scenarios, and surprises to ensure it remains as terrifying as you remember it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops COld War

Treyarch's Call of Duty games are the finest around, and they have excellent zombie horde modes. Black Ops Cold War is a great entry point for newcomers to the game who have not previously played this mode.

It has a fresh narrative, great tutorials, and easter eggs galore, and the original map is much easier for the classic survival modes. There are still tons of things to explore, and the reaction from those who have played it has been more favorable than in previous versions.

Zombie Night Terror

The hordes in some zombie fiction are not mindless, but driven by one bigger brain. Here, you are the hivemind, directing the pandemic from behind your keyboard. According to developers NoClip, the only way to survive the zombie apocalypse is to be the apocalypse!

Zombie Night Terror is a zombie games take on the traditional puzzle games formula, giving you a sidelong perspective on the action and strategies to use it, guiding your unthinking chargers over the booby traps they would otherwise fall into.

Pesky humans will aim for your numbers with buzzsaws, shotguns, and rebuilt snow trucks, but you may bolster the ranks with a few would-be survivors. The undead can be transformed into mutated beings that riff on Left 4 Dead, blowing themselves to pieces and taking the living with them, or spitting globules of green acid that stand in stark contrast to the grey backdrops.

Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid tells you that this is how you died, for the first time. This is not going to go to be a successful outcome. However, you can endure the inevitable for a while, obtaining an isometric existence through the shrewd scavenging, food sourcing, and first aid abilities you've acquired from the greatest survival games.

Only good preparation and a tab open to the Zomboid wiki can save you from the game's long-term fate. Long-term survival means rebuilding rural America, maintaining farms, and utilizing a defensive playstyle.

Where most zombie games focus on hitting the dead with something heavy before moving onto heavier artillery, Zomboid is about avoidance, careful management, and slow-burn strategy. In our Project Zomboid Early Access review, we discuss what we think of the game.

World War Z

This Left 4 Dead-style zombiegame has a lot in common with Brad Pitt's film of the same name, but it still has a lot of potential. Playing through its gauntlet-style campaign missions with friends, upgrading your gear over time, and seeing rotting corpses explode under heavy machine gun fire is still a lot of fun.

Back 4 Blood is also a genuine hit, having sold over 2 million copies through the Epic Games Store since its release. In September 2021, it received a free expansion Aftermath, which included new story campaigns, a first-person mode, and a brand new melee system.

Despite supporters' patience reaching a deadlock over the irrefutable abuse of the Early Access concept, there is still enough to DayZ that isn't just to remind you why the mod garnered all of that love.

DayZ is one of those simulation games where the ravenous undead are the not what haunts you every step. You will still have those Cormac McCarthy moments on the road, looking for clues about someone's intentions. However, once you have established a farm plot, DayZ opens up. It's enough to keep you and passing merchants alive.

There is scope for trading centers, large-scale farms, and stable villages in DayZ. Unfortunately, we are a few updates away from the post-societal civilised dream, and over time, bugs and performance issues can eat away at your enthusiasm.

State of Decay 2

The original State of Decay is a decent game, although the sequel does a superb job of fleshing out the controls of the original to create a more enjoyable survival/open-world experience.

State of Decay 2 is a straightforward yet satisfying core loop. You will choose a character from your community of survivors and take them out into the wild to search for food, fuel, or drugs to keep them alive. Once they recover or are struck by the undead, you may take control of another character from your base who has their own background, personality, and combat abilities.

When you invite another playable character into your growing base, you are letting in another playable character; another narrative to develop a middle and an end to. We cant wait to see what State of Decay 3 will be like.

Killing Floor 2

Apart from Left 4 Dead 2, Killing Floor 2 is a whirling, fast-paced rush as you blast out undead brains to aggressive heavy metal.

Killing Floor 2 is an excellent pick-up-and-play cooperative game that features zombies of all shapes and sizes. However, as you devote more time to indulge in a zombie bashing moment, Killing Floor 2 becomes a zombie game with a compelling tactical component: do you save your blood-soaked resources for a tougher confrontation later?

The gameplay of Killing Floor 2 is, most importantly, enjoyable to play as a wonderfully gory shooter with pals, and its best mechanic is a post-launch enhancement that has enhanced things even more.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human

Dying Light is an open-world zombie game that features customisable melee weapons and four-player co-op. Then The Studio (eventually) gave us Dying Light 2, and we couldnt be happier.

The unique parkour system that sets Dying Light 2 apart from its competitors. Already decent in the first game, it is living its finest unlife in Dying Light 2. Although the open-world RPG game isn't without its flaws, it's still on a good start, easily earning a spot as one of the top zombie games of the year.

Dying Light 2 is a scavenger, a game whose map icons and diversions are ripped from the Ubisoft formula. The parkour is nicked from Mirrors Edge, but the gameplay is also influenced by the clambering. For the best results, skip the more repetitive missions and take to the rooftops, designed with vertical meandering in mind.

Organ Trail

Organ Trail is a brutal zombie survival game that resembles the most famous old game of all time. Your primary concern is ensuring that you keep a steady supply of food, medicine, and ammunition, as well as avoiding roaming packs of flesh-eating undead.

The real stars of Organ Trail are the random events encounters, which will continue to keep you off guard hours into the game, from zombie boss fights and raiders' gangs to your survivors' mysterious jobs and illnesses. In Organ Trail, you're always on the back foot, managing your party's gradual descent into illness and hysteria one horrific encounter at a time, but every fight you manage to defeat feels like a herculean accomplishment, and it's that feeling that drives your weak station wagon

Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2 has been around for about a decade, but it is relatively inexpensive in the way Valve shooters are. That means that unlike many zombie games, it has lasted long, despite the lack of fancy, physically-based rendering or global illumination. It is a zombie game that has certainly not changed, even when compared to its different-themed siblings Vermintide and the two Payday crime games.

Left 4 Dead 2 depicts a world in which normality is all too recent. Thanks to the letters written on the walls of safe houses, humanity is close enough to touch, and there is a special warmth here.

The Walking Dead

Telltales The Walking Dead series is best described as a timer-driven conversation system, inspired by social anxieties. Like a campfire on a cold night, there is a tendency to defy you with humor and half an hour of defiance before swiping harshly at the characters you have grown to care about in a manner that only the finest adventure games on PC can.

The Walking Dead isn't really about the walkers; they are just the backdrop for a series of human stories about human nature. The only comfort you get at the end of each episode is when you see how many other players made the same terrible compromises as you.

Atom Zombie Smasher

Atom Zombie Smasher is one of the few zombie games that is focused on the big picture. It puts you in charge of the Nuevo Aires' defense forces and your job is to save as many people as you can. From your top-down perspective, you call in rescue helicopters, direct sniper teams, and make huge sacrifices in order to accomplish your goal.

Your objective for most maps is to airvacate as many people as possible. You tell your helicopters where to land, place your marine crews, and prepare explosives. Then, when you hit start, zombies flood in from different entrances around the level. If a zombie reaches a civilian they are instantly infected, and a city block becomes flooded with undead.

Sometimes you have to reduce your losses. Every time you put up a game-saving blockade, you are inevitably catching some of your charges on the wrong side. The distanced top-down perspective that casts yellow dots as civvies and pink ones as zombs encourages distanced utilitarianism. This time you are not Francis, Bill, Zoey, or Louis.
