Tempest Rising, a new RTS game, looks like a modern Command and Conquer game ...

The Command and Conquer games are stone-cold classics, but it's been a long time since we saw Tim Currys Anatoly Cherdenko excitedly talking about going to space. Thankfully, the upcoming RTS game Tempest Rising is set to recreate that special flavor of crunchy real-time strategy combat interspersed with slightly cheesy FMV-style narrative cutscenes.

Tempest Rising is a classic, base-building, real-time strategy game set in a modern-day alternative history war scenario, according to THQ Nordic. Tempest Rising features three factions competing for a valuable but volatile alien resource called Tempest, which is similar to the Tiberium in the original Command and Conquer games.

Here's the trailer:

THQ Nordics' brief description suggests you can take part in epic story campaigns or challenge your friends in multiplayer matches. The story missions appear to be highlighted directly by the first Command and Conquer briefings, and buildings fold out of the ground at their designated sites, like in Westwoods' classic RTS.

Tempest Rising is being developed by Slipgate Ironworks in partnership with 2B Games, the creators of the medieval Viking RTS Ancestors Legacy.

Tempest Rising will be available on Steam, and its release is scheduled for 2023.
