Wreckreation, an open-world racer, has been announced by Burnout and Need For Speed ...

Wreckreation, released Friday, will allow players to customize and modify the race course as others drive it. The game is coming soon for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

The Wreckreations development team consists of veterans from the Electronic Arts Burnout and Need for Speed series. Six different events Drift, Air, Near Miss, Stunt, Crash, and [] Time are scattered throughout the game's open-world map. The MixWorld, as its called, allows players to construct tracks and place jumps, loops, obstacles, and other things on the course while an event is taking place live.

Wreckreation will also include a 16-channel FM Radio dial, as well as a variety of car customization options. If that isn't enough, the game will support Spotify streaming of players' favorite playlists.

None of the vehicles appear to be real-world or licensed, but Wreckreation can seed the field with everything from a backhoe to a cable TV van and a dismantled oldsmobuick detectivemobile.

THQ Nordic did not specify a launch date or timeframe for the racing game, although an Amazon listing suggests it might be released before the end of 2022.

Three Fields Entertainment, a game development studio founded in 2014 by Criterion founders Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry, has since released a few titles, including the game Dangerous Golf, its first title, and the crash-threat driving games Danger Zone, Danger Zone 2, and Dangerous Driving.
