The Golden Guardians' full-strength roster returned to the LCS stage today, but the league's ninth-place team suffered the same fate, losing to Evil Geniuses after a 32-minute dissection from the defending LCS champions.

Evil Geniuses built a slow and steady gold advantage without having to rely on kills throughout the first 26 minutes of the game. Dannys Zerithat allowed the team to keep their gold lead for good.

Danny took on Zeri with a scoreline of 10/2/2 today, his sixth 10-plus kill game of the season. In addition, he dealt over 51 percent of Evil Geniuses total damage this game, according to the LCS official stats-focused Twitter account.

With this victory, EG have temporarily claimed sole possession of first place in the LCS. They finished the week tied for first with 100 Thieves, who will play FlyQuest later today. The top two seeds in the regular season will receive a first-round bye in the LCS Championship.

Golden Guardians has now lost seven games in a row. Danan Flander, the team's General Manager, was dismissed earlier this week. Flander made an effort to strengthen the club's roster this week by signing former Dignitas jungler River in a trade, but the club has yet to win a game since the acquisition.

Golden Guardians are still in the hunt for a playoff spot, as the top eight league teams will compete in the LCS Championship. Currently, Golden Guardians are 0.5 games behind Immortals for the eighth and final playoff spot. Cloud9 will play later tonight.

Golden Guardians will have to face off against third-place Team Liquid tomorrow, before completing their Summer Split against Dignitas.
