The fourth Power spin-off would have focused on dodgy politician Rashid Tate (played by Larenz Tate) and was following Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force, which aired in February this year.
Starz, a television network, has decided not to continue the series.
The news of this suspension is quite surprising given the success of the previous three spin-off seasons Ghost has been renewed for a third season, Season two of Raising Kanan will premiere on August 14 and Force has had a second season confirmed.
Kathryn Busby was appointed President of Starz Original Programming. She described Power and Outlander as "shows that are both premium and commercial." (via Variety).
"They're both powerful and provocative, and they're fantastic power character pieces. I feel like when people come to Starz, they know what they're getting."
Busby said when asked recently about a third spin-off planned in London (before the news of Influence being cancelled broke), "I am not at liberty to answer anything in that vein except to say what we love about Power is the possibility to spin off and to spin off successfully."
"We'd love to do this again, in theory. I'm glad you're hearing it."
Starz in the United States broadcasts all Power spin-off series, and Starzplay in the United Kingdom.
