Zoe Terakes has been announced as the next star to star in the Disney+ series Ironheart.

Terakes is expected to play a key role in Deadline's forthcoming series. They can currently be seen in the TV series Wentworth asReb Keane and Nine Perfect Strangers as Glory.

Terakes, who is transgender, is the second non-binary star to join the show after Shea Coulee of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 7 for an unconfirmed role.

Manny Montana and Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich, stars in Good Girls and Mayans, have also been cast in the series.

Riri Williams, a student and gifted inventor who designs a suit of armor that rivals that of Iron Man, is the focus of Ironheart.

Early pictures from the set have given fans a first look at Riri's armour as well as a first look at Hamilton star Anthony Ramos, who appears to be playing series villain Parker Robbins, aka The Hood.

Ironheart will make her debut in the upcoming Black Panther sequel Wakanda Forever, which will set up the show.

Thorne revealed her surprise at being cast as Riri in an Empire Magazine interview last year.

"I was so surprised, in fact, that there was a considerable delay in the conversation!" she continued, pointing out that she was waiting for them to say, like, 'Oh, we'll send you the sides' or, 'Get your tape over to us.'

"It was like, 'Would you like to do this?" It was probably the most unique experience I've ever had because there was no audition."

The first film from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now available on Disney+.
