Brett Goldstein, who plays Hercules in Marvel's Thor: Love and Thunder, has spoken forth about his role as Hercules in the film and the preparation for it.
Goldstein appears in a post-credits scene of the film when Russell Crowe's Zeus orders him to go hunt Thor down in case you didn't see it.
The actor talked to The Playlist about how he only learned about the role two weeks before he was scheduled to film his comeo, and how it was like for him to undergo as much training as he could to look the part.
"They turn around, and they reveal, 'It's Hercules,' says the narrator. I said, 'What?' Just like, he said, "Are you serious? Are you f**king with me?"
"So yes, it was as unexpected to me as it was to other people," says the author.
After talking about the extremely short notice he received in order to begin filming, he explained how he had to get a job.
"When I spoke with Taika [Waititi, the director], I said, 'You know I'm basically a skinny comedian?' I said, 'I mean, I'll do my best, but two weeks feels,' and I was like, 'He doesn't have to be as big as Thor, does he?'
"And look, I'm doing 400 push-ups that day. I was fit to explode."
The Ted Lasso star also talked about keeping his role a secret from Variety. He said: "I didn't tell anyone because Marvel put a chip in my neck that said, "If you talk about this, you're dead."
"I texted my mum and dad and said, 'I've just seen Thor.' I knew it wasn't the movie they'd want to see, so I told them, 'I'll go see it.'
"It gets to the end, where Russell Crowe is shown." "Russell Crowe is in it again, he's very funny," said the narrator.
Thor: Love and Thunder is now available in US and UK cinemas. The other three Thor movies are available to stream now on Disney+.
