Be Careful What You Wish For in the 'Three Thousand Years of Longing' Clip

Be Careful What You Wish For in the 'Three Thousand Years of Longing' Clip ...

Three Thousand Years of Longing, based on A.S. Byatt's short story The Djinn in the Nightingales Eye, has just released a new video highlighting Elba and Swinton's headbutting behavior.

Elbas Djinn and Swintons Dr Alithea Binnie clash over the idea that the former be allowed to make three wishes so that he can be freed. However, Alithea is content with her life and the two had never met. That appears to be a major error and the clip ends with the Djinns container being broken.

Three Thousand Years of Longing has a lot on its plate. Besides the usual framework of seeing what someone would do with the power of three wishes, the film seems to combine a uniquely vibrant and adventurous tone with an emotionally charged narrative about discovering what we personally desire/our self-worth. The tale of a Djinn being stuck with an academic during a work conference is sure to bring a lot of humor to the overall fantastical experience.

Miller co-wrote and directed this film. Miller is a master at blending different tones and themes seamlessly together in his vast four-decade filmography. Because of that, it will be interesting to see what Miller, along with Elba and Swinton, bring to this film.

On August 26, Until Three Thousand Years of Longing begins its magical theatrical run, you may watch the new trailer below.
