In its Bouncy Co-Op Follow-Up, Owlboy Devs Switch From Birds To Vikings ...

We love games that are so bizarre that you can't help but laugh, and we think that D-Pad Studio's upcoming release might just take the biscuit. Are you ready for this one? Vikings on trampolines! Yes, you read that correctly.

The studio said in a tweet that they would present their new game at this year's Gamescom, but today's trailer (from IGN) states that the event will be solely for getting your hands on a playable demo.

With a title like This, the trailer shows the game to be quite as funny as you would expect. You'll play as a team of Vikings who are tasked with defeating airborne enemies all from the safety of a ring of stretchy canvas. Think of Dreamworks' How To Train Your Dragon, but replace the dragons with trampolines and you're there.

As you team up with your friends and enter the bounce brawl, expect co-op play of your choosing. You can cause havoc alone in solo play, or you can join up in 4-player multiplayer madness, so get your horned-helmet mates prepared to take flight.

The game was actually teased some 11 years ago (thanks, Destructoid), and previous fans of the game are eagerly waiting to see how this turns out. Check out some screenshots from the game's trailer below:

D-Pad is continuing to provide breathtakingly stunning pixel art visuals from Owlboy in this upcoming release, as it became one of the main reasons for our fascination for the previous game. This feature will certainly be a draw again this time.

The studio has yet to announce whether or not Vikings on Trampolines will be released on Switch, although the game is currently being developed for PC only. However, we are aware that this is still early days for D-Pad's follow-up, and based on the success of Owlboy on the eShop, we would be surprised if these Vikings follow the same path.

At this year's Gamescom, you can expect more information on the game.
