Jodie Whittaker will take her last position as the Thirteenth Doctor in the coming years, and Ncuti Gatwa, who starred in Sex Education's Time Lord, is expected to take over as the title Time Lord. That said, Doctor Who fans will likely be waiting quite a while before Gatwas Doctor starts getting into some wibbley-wobbly, timey-wimey nonsense.
Ncuti Gatwa is expected to begin filming the next season of Doctor Who in November, according to THR. Due of this shooting date and the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special that will air in 2023 (more on that later), the next regular season of Doctor Who will not air until early 2024 at the earliest.
Jodie Whittaker and her companions, Mandip Gills Yasmin Khan, star in the specials Eve of the Daleks and Legend of the Sea Devils this year, while Janet Fieldings Tegan Jovanka and Sophie Aldreds Ace are still with us till 2024. But as previously mentioned, this popular property will not leave us empty-handed for 2023.
David Tennant and Catherine Tate will reprise their roles in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, while Bernard Cribbins will reprise her role as Donna Noble in The End of Time, according to showrunner Russell T. Davies.
If it is the latter, then we'll get our first look at Ncuti Gatwas Doctor before 2023, as Tennants' new Doctor will be the Fourteenth Doctor by the end of the 60th anniversary events. However, those of you who want to see Gatwas Doctor travel through time and space in the TARDIS have a long wait ahead. Keep your fingers crossed that he will make a quick appearance next year.
When Ncuti Gatwas Doctor Who tenure starts, youll be able to see them on BBC America. Along with Sex Education, Ncuti Gatwa will star in next years Barbie, and according to co-star Simu Liu, Gatwa kept his Doctor Who casting secret from the other people on that production for two months.
