Riot is set to begin deleting really old League of Legends accounts ...

Riot Games is expected to delete accounts from League of Legends, but don't worry, they won't be yours. According to a new developer's announcement, Riot will be putting an end to all inactive accounts across their roster of games.

Accounts that haven't been active for more than three years will be classified as inactive. A few things are required in order to avoid being deleted:

  • Account is inactive.
  • Account did not purchase any game currency in its lifetime.
  • Account did not receive any game currency in its lifetime.
  • Account has played fewer than 20 hours.
  • Account does not own any rare limited edition game entitlements.

If you fall into any of these categories, please contact the person responsible for the deletion of your information. League accounts marked will have received an email to the email address linked with their accounts.

Riot intends to implement an inactive account deletion policy in the coming months, giving players a chance to withdraw from the account deletion process.

This isn't available right now.

The most likely explanation for your account being on the receiving end is unless youve been away from the Riots catalog for a long time. For those who discover that their count has been a part of this deletion, you will need to create a new Riot ID since there appears to be no way to recover this once it is gone.
