With a new nature series, Sir David Attenborough will return to the BBC ...

Sir David Attenborough is returning to the BBC with a brand new nature series called Wild Isles.

This five-part series will allow the tireless conservationist to study the environment closer to home in Britain and Ireland. He and his dedicated film crew have spent the last three years examining the flora and fauna in the United Kingdom.

Wild Isles will capture the local woodlands, grasslands, and marine life in crystal clear 4K and time-lapse photography to document the changes to the natural world (via Variety).

Attenborough commented on his forthcoming series, saying, "In my long life, I have traveled to almost every corner of the planet."

"I can assure you that there are extraordinary animal dramas and wildlife spectacles to match anything I have seen on my worldwide voyages in the British Isles."

From sea eagles and killer whales to wild horses and bees, this BBC One series promises to get up close and personal with some of the world's finest animals.

Silverback Films is the co-production of the series with The Open University, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and the World Wildlife Fund.

After the success of his previous programs including Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Our Planet, and Frozen Planet, Attenborough's latest documentary on nature follows.

"I have always wanted to make a groundbreaking series that really respects our own exceptional wildlife." "I am certain people will be surprised by what is happening right on their own doorstep," said executive producer Alastair Fothergill in a statement.

Jack Bootle, the BBC's head of science and natural history, said: "The multi-award-winning team at Silverback are creating an extraordinary display of British and Irish wildlife that must be seen.

"You'll think a Somerset meadow is as beautiful as the Serengeti, and the North Atlantic is as wild and dramatic as the Antarctic Ocean."

Wild Isles has no published date yet, although it is anticipated to launch in spring 2023.
