The Hunger Games prequel may be a long time away, but fans of the Young Adult series may now have their first official image.
Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth have made their journey to Panem to portray Lucy Gray Baird and Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Lucy and Coriolanus, the future president of Panem, are laying on the grass and holding hands, gazing up to the sky in the first-look photo. As a conflict rages on and the infamous Hunger Games have just commemorated their tenth anniversary, it is a must see event in Panem.
Lucy, the homage to the poor District 12, will form a connection with Snow, who has agreed to mentor her.
According to director Francis Lawrence, the couple is expected to be a "very intimate love story."
"It's this different kind of love story set in a different kind of a world in a different time," he told Vanity Fair.
The director confirmed that Jennifer Lawrence's fiery archer Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist in the original film saga, will play a different character in the role of Lucy.
"This is not with judgment, but Lucy Gray is the anti-Katniss," he said.
"She's a musician, she's a performer, and she's a charmer Snow has never encountered a girl like this before."
On November 17, 2023, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be released in cinemas. The previous Hunger Games movies are available to stream on Prime Video UK.
