'The Menu,' 'Decision to Leave,' and More will premiere at this year's Fantastic Fest ...

Fantastic Fest has been a slew of years since it began to gather genre film enthusiasts together in one place. For obvious COVID-related reasons, the event had to be socially separated so that life could be reintroduced into a horror film. Now, however, the gigantic lineup reflects the thrill of being a full, in-person event.

The menu, the Colin Farrell star film The Banshees of Inisherin, A24s Medusa Deluxe, and Palm dOr winner Triangle of Sadness are among the titles scheduled for this year's Fantastic Fest.

Fantastic Fest will honor a distinguished filmmaker in this year's edition, and the winner is South Korean film director Park Chan-wook, who has given the world modern classics like Oldboy, intriguing sci-fi titles like Snowpiercer, and the plot-twist roller coaster ride The Handmaiden. During the Festival, Parks' next film, Decision to Leave, will have its US premiere.

Lisa Dreyer, the director of Fantastic Fest, issued an official statement lauding the in-person event and revealing other film-related events that will take place during the festival:

It's been far too long since we've all been able to assemble and celebrate film in the Fantastic Fest way. From the fantastic programming that encompasses exciting discoveries to highly-anticipated features, to our signature events that will provide a much-needed dose of fun in 2022, we've put our all into creating an extraordinary week.

The Fantastic Fest parties will be returning this year, including itchy-o with a special performance, Roboexotica cocktail-coating robots at the opening night party, live podcast recordings, as well as Fantastic Fest essentials such as 100 Best Kills, the Fantastic Feud, and the Fantastic Debates.

The FF@Home will be held for the second year in a row, and the online program will once again champion eccentric and obscure indie cinema. The entire virtual lineup has yet to be released, but they will feature a selection of films from this years in-person event as well as virtual exclusives.

Fantastic Fest has been the go-to destination for numerous critically acclaimed films such as Parasite, John Wick, Zombieland, and Suspiria in the United States (and sometimes internationally), as well as other prominent guests like Lily and Lana Wachowski, The RZA, Karyn Kusama, Darren Aronofsky, and George A. Romero.

The 2018 Fantastic Fest will be held at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, Texas, from September 22 to September 29. You may purchase event badges and/or view the incredible lineup on the Fantastic Fest website.
