FIFA 23 sells for six cents accidentally, but EA will correct the error ...

FIFA 23 is currently available for pre-order in the United Kingdom, and is expected to be a full-price retail release. However, customers might get a lot of a deal in one particular market at one particular store.

Anyone visiting the Epic Games Store in India last month would have noticed that while the standard FIFA 23 edition cost 3,499 (USD$44) the Ultimate Edition, which should have cost 4,799 (USD$60), was instead listed at 4.80.

The store has clearly placed the decimal point in the wrong place, and gamers flocked to the store and purchased the game. And, once news got out, fans began sharing on social media ways for players outside the country to set their accounts on the Indian Epic Games Store.

This sort of thing isn't unusual in the realm of online shopping, but often stores will cancel orders when the discrepancy is this large. I don't think too many people would have expected to get a cheaper FIFA 23 version for six cents.

But they have! EA Sports has this week issued a statement saying:

When we offered a FIFA 23 pre-purchase on the Epic Games Store at an incorrect price a few weeks back, we scored a pretty spectacular own-goal. It was our mistake, and we wanted to inform you that we will happily honor all pre-purchases made at that price.

EA isnt losing out on much here, although FIFA has always been and remains a full-price sports game that features single-player modes, in recent years the franchises Ultimate Team multiplayer mode has been making billions of dollars. Im sure the math on Money lost on initial six cent sales vs Money made long-term through Ultimate Team remains in the company's favor.
